Little tutorial time!

I’ve seen majority of breast plate tutorials for cosplay on the internet the recommend shaping with Worbla to get the right shape and fit for each individual person. But for me, the room my costumes are stored in can reach over 40 degrees Celsius in summer, so I can’t use Worbla for fear of my costumes melting.

So when it comes to breast plates I use two simple things: an old bra, and some epoxy resin.

Wear gloves, follow the instructions on the bottle and work outside.
I did one layer on the separated bra cups and left them to dry/soak into the fabric, then coated a second layer. The outside is rock hard but inside the fabric of the inner cup has not been touched by the resin, meaning it won’t be uncomfortable on your skin. (With Leona i did not wear a bra, just the breast plate and that was comfortable and supportive)

I’ve used cheap paint brushed and a thick piece of card board to paint the coats on because the resin will harden and make the paint brush useless. I’ve always done it slowly so it coats evenly and all I have to do is let it dry then paint right away.

I’ve done this technique now with four of my cosplays as pictured
Leona, Hilda and Zelda, and currently for my Monster Hunter cosplay. The plain bra pictured is used for my monster hunter one which is covered in foam
